I make "minamo" by using the metal casting technique. The process consists of pattern, molding, casting, and finishing touches / coloring.
Minamo's wave and ripple patterns are made by blowing wind on the resin during the pattern process. The patterns differ depending on how the wind is blown. I make the outer mold so the pattern can be cracked and taken out, metal is poured in, and then becomes metal casting. The surface is then polished and colored.

What triggered me to produce "minamo," are the rivers and water in my hometown, Kumamoto, which is rich in nature, and I spent my childhood playing in rivers. I heard the sound of water flowing, saw the sunlight flashing through the trees, and gazed at the glittering water reflecting the light. The shining sunlight on the water surface changes continuously, and I feel an irreplacable uniqueness and eternity in the flashing and changing expressions of water.

After the Kumamoto Earthquake in 2016, when the familiar scenery changed, I realized the preciousness that ordinary things we see daily won't last forever. I felt that we are able to realize the preciousnes of "unchanging" daily life, when there are changes and changing events.
"Flowing water" and "ripples and waves on the watersurface" are "unchangable" facts, and I feel eternity.
I wanted to show here the meaning of "the preciousness and beauty of the unchangable." Also, in my graduation project "The Unchangable Scenery (2019)," I wanted to show how water will continue running, and that I hope will continue to keep flowing, and held "minamo" as myself praying, producing a monument of "the Unchangable."

In order to reflect everyday life and gaze at the beauty in moment-to-moment daily life, I melt and pour metal in "metal casting" technique as to leave a mark in life. The act of melting and pouring metal in "metal casting" has a meaning of blowing my feelings and prayors into my artworks. I believe ripples and wave patterns are "minamo," and that I can keep its shape and shining appearance by the power of metal, and I produce my artworks expressing the preciousness of "unchange" through "minamo." I hope you can reflect your everyday life through my artworks.
