Our Desire

Varieties of art have always been a part of our lifestyle here in Kanazawa. Wares such as Kutani and Wajima Lacquer have been well-beloved in our daily lives. However, we feel artworks are currently only seen in museums or galleries, and we have little opportunity to actually feel close to art.
"Tsukibae" specializes artworks produced by artists having a certain kinship with Kanazawa's art. By having these works near at hand, and by sharing with you the perspective, space, and time of these artworks, we'd like to offer you an enriched lifestyle. Like music being a part of our daily lives, we offer artworks to be the same, and we'd like to give an opportunity to share the world of our artworks.
When we touch an artwork stimulating our five senses, we use senses we don't normally use. We sometimes feel comforted when we use a different sense from what we normally do. Artworks can provide various messages like comfort, or a renewed sense of value.

Story

"Tsukibae" renovated a traditional house built in the Meiji Period.
There is a magnificent stone basin in the garden, which is normally where you wash and purify your hands at a tea party. There is a magnificent stone basin in the garden, which is normally where you wash and purify your hands at a tea party. The stone basin placed there since the Meiji Period has surely reflected many moons in the past. We hope the artworks we will be handling here will become a presence like the reflecting moon.
Like the moon showing more presence when reflecting in the basin, this ArtShop is named after our wish to strengthen the presence of young artists, and encourage their success by providing young artists' works familiar to home.
